NDS Mesa Quality Assurance Technician (Receiving Inspection)

Position Summary:

As a Quality Assurance Technician (Receiving Inspection), you will be performing incoming inspections on COTs, custom manufactured parts, assemblies, and hardware to ensure compliance to blueprints, specifications, and contractual agreements. Quality Inspectors at Nammo Defense Systems are responsible for conducting visual and dimensional inspections using standard measurement tools and specialized go / no-go gauges, as well as preparing, submitting and archiving/maintaining inspection documentation.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Prepare to inspect product by reviewing blueprints, data, and manuals to determine/understand specifications, how and what to inspection, and if there are testing procedures/requirements.

• Review paperwork to ensure completion and accuracy of all documents including, MIL-STD-1916 sampling size, First Articles, certificate of analysis, and conformity among others.

• Inspect product to verify conformance to specification of the parts by measuring features using standard instruments, such as, vision systems, CMMs, gauges, calipers, micrometers, optical comparators, etc.

• Perform First Article inspections as required.

• Perform inspection and measuring tasks with minimum supervision.

• Be dedicated to the integrity of the quality function and possess a drive to enhance the quality of both the product and processes.

• Be able to adapt to the use of new equipment and learn about new products and methods.

• Perform quality related duties and be flexible based on business needs.

• Generate and perform verification activities on Non-Conforming Material and discrepancy reports.

• Complies with all Quality Procedures and Policies.

• Must have good verbal and written skills.

• Must be able to make accurate measurements

• Must understand, read and write technical and conversational English.

• Must be able to complete all training to obtain inspection certifications.

• Must be able to work under pressure and within time constraints.

• Must be able to problem solve with little or no direction., know when to get help.

• Must be detail oriented and organized.

• Must be able to work as part of a team.

Required Experience & Skills:

• HS Diploma / GED and 2-5 years of relevant inspection experience is required.

• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

• Ability to input, retrieve, access, and send information via computer.

• Experience working with Microsoft Word and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2+ years progressive inspection experience preferred in the Aerospace and Defense Industry.

• 4+ years in a progressive manufacturing environment preferred.

• Advanced proficiency with reading understanding 2D drawings.

• Proficiency utilizing gauges, radius, pin, Go-No/Go.

• Strong attention to detail.

• Strong mechanical aptitude.

• Strong GD&T experience preferred.

• Knowledge of Quality Management Systems.

Working Conditions – Physical requirements and environment

• Approximately 20% of time at desk using computer.

• Approximately 80% of time on production floor, requiring safety glasses, protective footwear, and explosives handlers’ outer garments, as needed.

• Ability to bend, stoop, crawl and stand for inspections of parts.

• Ability to lift materials up to 40-80 pounds with assistance.

Note Must have the ability to obtain BATF approval to engage in certain explosive operations
